A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Isabella Shattenberg. I am 19 years old, currently living in Santa Barbara and attending SBCC online. In late December I will be moving down to Oceanside, California to continue my studies and invest in deeper community. I love kids and have invaluable experience in both nannying and babysitting as well as educational support.

Though originally from Santa Barbara, I spent most of my childhood in Madagascar, where my parents currently live and work today. I grew up helping at the Sarobidy Maternity Center, surrounded by newborns and mothers—experiences that sparked my deep love for caregiving.

Over the past 19 years, I’ve lived in in several countries all of which have shaped me into someone who is adaptable, nurturing, and culturally aware. My goal is always to always create a safe, loving, and enriching environment where kids can thrive.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve nannied for several families over the years, caring for infants through preteens—handling routines like bottle feeding, naps, nighttime care, engaging activities, and light housework.

I most recently nannied for a precious little girl, working consistently on weekdays from 8 a.m - 2 p.m. We read many books together, went on sweet sunny walks, and enjoyed proactive days. I value kindness, consistency, and creating safe, joyful spaces for kids.

I recently lived in Jeffereys Bay, South Africa, volunteering at a local program that seeks to relieve poverty through educational support, enriching activities, and surf lessons. Each session, 30+ kids from the local community would come seeking educational support and a loving, fun environment.

Much of my love for childcare has sprouted from my cross-cultural upbringing. Growing up in Madagascar, I was involved in my parents’ work, including a Maternity Center, where I helped care for newborns while their mothers received care.

My experience with special needs children...

While I have not worked with special needs children. I have had the privilege of working closely with children in underprivileged and impoverished communities—helping with schoolwork, teaching English, giving surf lessons, and most importantly, pouring love and encouragement into each child’s life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In past jobs, I have loved witnessing kids grow into their little personalities and learn to hold their own in this big world. Helping children learn to walk, speak, and encourage imagination was beautifully rewarding.
