More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Currently, I work as an assistant daycare teacher in the infant room (ages 6wks-18m). I’ve also got my ECE Level 1 Credential that I received my senior year of high school! I was a part of an early childcare course in high school where we had the opportunity to student teach a functioning preschool class. I’m also the the third oldest of nine grandchildren, so I’ve had the lovely opportunity to watch my family members grow, and have had the opportunity to lend a hand when it comes to babysitting. I have also had plenty of experience babysitting neighborhood children. I’ve been babysitting on and off since I was about 13 (I’m currently 19)!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities with children. I believe it’s extremely important for children to experience nature and nurture it. One outdoor activity I love introducing to children is a color scavenger hunt; I get a 12-count egg carton and color the bottom of each cell a different color and then encourage/aid the children in finding a piece of nature that matches the colors in the carton. It teaches children matching skills, their colors, and exposes them to different pieces of nature that they may not have noticed before intentionally seeking them out. Indoor activities are also extremely important in the enjoyment and advancement of children. An activity I enjoy doing is building a pillow/cushion fort and having the children lead the building and design process. It encourages imagination/invention skills, problem solving skills (for if their plans don’t work out and need a fix), and aids in gross motor development. Helping kids get creative with activities is the best!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure you, as a nanny, have a connection with the child/children that are under your care is the most important part about being a nanny. If a relationship between child and caregiver isn’t strong, problems could arise and could be dangerous in the long run. Having a strong connection, trust, and love are of upmost importance. Being a nanny should be interpersonal and having a strong foundation will aid all parties involved!
