Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I grow up taking care of my 5 nieces and nephew, 3 of whom are autistic. It’s been an amazing learning experience! I have been very fortunate to babysit and dog sit for families along the years since I was 15 as well. Now I work part-time as a special education para for spotsylvania county schools! Which has given me the amazing opportunity to work with kids of all ages! :) I love to read and to take long hikes with my dog!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Reading is my top favorite thing to do! I love reading a good educational book! I also enjoy going on walks outside or playing outside! Arts and crafts are one of my go to as well!
I also get very excited when the little ones are excited so anything that makes them happy makes me extremely happy so I’m willing to be creative with them if it keeps them entertained and engaged!

Is being able to set an example for the children! Give the children amazing memories, teach them new things and loving them! Giving them the validation and attention they all need!
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with low functioning children/young adults with their daily living skills and basic learning skills in a school and in home settings.
I’ve also had the amazing opportunity to work with kids in home with serious behavioral issues and with the help of a team we would find new coping skills and strategies for the parents and the children/young adults to practice day to day.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Most memorable nanny moment was taking the kids to the pool and have to teach one of the children i was nannying to stop giving strangers hugs to strangers (He was learning/practicing how to respect others personal space).
It was super stressful since he kept running off to greet the new people appearing at the pool and though it was super sweet and pure, it was funny to see him walk up to anyone and everyone. No one scared him. I’ll never forget it. He thought everyone was a friend which honestly taught me something too. He taught me to be nice to everyone no matter what and to continue to be positive no matter what and I taught him personal space and how to ask before we touch. It was definitely a learning experience for the both of us!
