A little bit about me

I’m excited to be moving back to Virginia after many years away. Caring for children has always been a joy in my life, and with my own children grown, I now have one sweet granddaughter—though I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like.

I run a small home-based business, which gives me the flexibility to dedicate my time and energy to helping children learn, grow, and thrive. I bring warmth, patience, and a nurturing spirit to every family I work with, and I truly look forward to meeting you and supporting your family’s needs.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve worked as a nanny in California, Arizona, and Florida, caring for children of different ages and stages. Most recently, I’ve spent the past 15 months caring for a wonderful little boy, beginning when he was just 5 months old. It has been such a joy to watch him grow and develop, while gaining valuable experience with infant care, daily routines, and encouraging learning through play.

I also briefly worked as a substitute teacher in Florida. While I quickly realized that the public school system wasn’t the right fit for me, the experience gave me insight into classroom dynamics and reaffirmed my passion for providing children with individualized, one-on-one care. Over the years, I’ve developed strong skills in nurturing infants and toddlers, supporting growth and independence, and maintaining open communication with parents to ensure a safe and consistent environment.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing all kinds of crafts and often find fun ways to sneak in a little learning along the way. From painting and simple DIY projects to seasonal crafts, I enjoy helping children use their creativity while building fine motor skills. I also love reading stories together, baking simple treats, playing educational games, and spending time outdoors on nature walks or at the playground.

I’m open to all sorts of activities, and I believe every child is unique. Taking the time to understand a child’s personality and interests helps me choose activities that keep them engaged, happy, and learning as they grow.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and supportive environment where a child can truly thrive. It’s about building trust, showing patience, and meeting them where they are—whether that’s helping with learning, encouraging play, or simply being a steady and caring presence in their daily life. At the heart of it, being a nanny means not just caring for a child, but helping them feel valued, understood, and celebrated for who they are as an individual.

My experience with special needs children...

One of my closest friends has a son with autism, and I’ve been a part of his life since he was very young. Now 26, I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow and being there to help and support him along the way. That experience has given me a real appreciation for patience, understanding, and celebrating each child’s unique personality.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite parts of being a nanny is watching children grow and develop into their own unique selves. With the little boy I care for now, I’ve loved helping him learn new words, shapes, numbers, and letters, and seeing the excitement on his face when something “clicks.” Just as important, I enjoy balancing learning time with sports and active play, as well as giving him space for quiet solo time. Watching him thrive in all these areas has been such a rewarding experience for me. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love working with children.
