My name is Jada, everyone calls me Jay. I am 21 years old. I love working with kids and being able to be a part of helping them become who they are and who they want to be. I have 5 younger siblings all under the age of 13. I’ve been babysitting since I was 13 years old and have been a Registered Behavior Technician since I graduated high school. Working with kids brightens my day every day. I’m able to be calm and collected no matter how hard some challenges are because I remember that I’m working with them to help them work through emotions. I love having dance parties (freeze dances are my personal favorite), painting, and reading with kids. I look forward to meeting you!

I’ve been a Registered Behavior Technician for 3 years now and I’ve been babysitting for 8 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing hide and seek with kids. It’s always so fun when they get so excited to find you. I myself am a self proclaimed artist, so I do love drawing and painting with kids and finding other artsy things to do with them. I am definitely a card game person, so I am always more than happy to get competitive with a game of Uno or any other game. I love when I play games with kids and they get so happy when they win, but I’m also able to help them tolerate losing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’d say the most important part of being a nanny is helping kids grow up. It is sad to see them get older and grow up but I love being a part of helping them find themselves and teaching them about the world. Kids always have questions and I always have answers. I love answering questions they have and I always answer them in an appropriate way that helps them understand what they are asking and not giving them a partial answer that doesn’t fully explain what they want explained. I also love figuring out their favorite things like food and animals and everything like that. Once I figure out the favorite foods, I make them for them and ask them how they like it to make sure it’s exactly what they want. Also expanding their horizons with things like food is very important to me.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve baby sat my autistic, non verbal cousin since he was born and I’ve helped him find ways to communicate with drawing and making a board of things he likes so he can point to them. He does have outbursts a lot but him and I have found ways that works for him to get him calmer and back to being his silly self. He is 7 years old now and he is the best artist I’ve seen. I help him with his school work and he is very smart and I try my best to help him show it. I’ve been an RBT for 3 years and work with autistic children of all ages and all over the spectrum on a day to day basis.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny/babysitting moment has to be when one of my families I was babysitting for had to move and the kids were asking if I could move with them. It was honestly one of my sadder moments but it showed me how much they cared about me and how much they knew I cared for them. We had a sit down talk where I explained to them that I won’t be able to move with them but I can still go see them and if they’re in town I can plan something to do with them. I’ve been to a few of their programs and they are always so happy to see me when I come and it makes my heart so happy. I just had a birthday and they FaceTimed me and told me happy birthday and we talked on the phone for a while and they were updating me on everything going on in their lives. It was a very sad moment but I’m so happy to have been a part of their lives and help them become who they are.
