The most important part about being a nanny...
There are many important parts. That being said, one that stands out for me is safety. Safety includes many things such as car seat safety, holding hands when walking, cutting certain foods to avoid choking like grapes for instance. I also feel it’s very important to incorporate play in learning. An example might be counting the steps at home when we come and go and on the playground ladder, or naming the animals at the farm or zoo.
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for boy/girl twins a few years back.
The little girl had Downs Syndrome. She had a feeding tube, (to which I learned how to feed, and change) and a number of interventionists who came to the house that I was included in. It was a wonderful learning experience and they were the most adorable twins I’ve ever met.
