A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Kara, I grew up in Liberty, Missouri my whole life, I have six siblings who gave me six nieces and five nephews, so I’ve also grown up around and taken care of children basically my whole life! I went to UMKC and graduated with a Psychology degree. After college I decided to put my degree to good use and work as a Registered Behavioral Technician. My duties involved within this job were to follow through with therapy plans, set by Psychologists, to special needs children. Although this job was extremely fulfilling, it just wasn’t the career for me. I am engaged and don’t have any children of my own (besides two dogs!). More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My first babysitting experience started when I was thirteen. I was already taking care of newborn babies because of my siblings! One of my sisters worked 12 hour shifts while my brother in law was going to law school, so I would take care of my newborn nephew from 7am to 5pm through the weekdays. When I was fourteen I would help babysit younger children throughout my neighborhood as well. Throughout my life I’ve always helped watch and take care of my nieces and nephews who all range from different age groups.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing with children, whether that be going to the park, the zoo, swimming, playing board games, coloring, etc… Doing anything is fun as long as I’m able to provide a smile on their face, it makes my day!

The most important part about being a nanny...

There’s so many important aspects, but I would say that the most important part is being able to be a support system in any aspect for the family and children that they may need, being able to help give children the best life they can achieve, bonding, taking care of a child’s physical and emotional well-being, and making memories.

My experience with special needs children...

I previously was employed as a Registered Behavioral Technician, so I have some experience with special needs children. I worked as an RBT for about a year and a half. Although I loved working with the kids, it just wasn’t the right environment for me.
