More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I began my childcare journey at 14, providing babysitting services for children ranging from infants to preteens, including families with diverse needs. At 18, I completed a year-long internship at an after-school program, assisting pre-K and kindergarten-aged children (typically around 4-5 years old). Following this, I gained professional experience at a licensed daycare for a year, working with children from as young as 5 months to 5 years old. This hands-on experience includes caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in both structured and unstructured settings.
In addition to my daycare experience, I continued babysitting for families with children of various ages, from infants to teenagers, which has strengthened my ability to adapt to different age groups and developmental stages. My diverse background in both professional and in-home settings has equipped me with the skills to provide exceptional care and build strong relationships with families.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
One of my absolute favorite activities is baking with kids. It’s not only fun but also a great way to teach them life skills like measuring, teamwork, and patience—all while creating delicious treats together!
I also love spending time outdoors, especially at the park. I like to come prepared with a “fun backpack” filled with items like cones, rings, ribbons, chalk, spray bottles (perfect for warm days), velcro ball toss sets, and balls. One of my favorite memories is helping a child set up a “playground party” by decorating with cones and ribbons, watching their creativity shine as they took charge of their environment.
For indoor fun, I enjoy encouraging independent play activities such as working with magnet tiles, building train tracks, or creating with Legos. I find joy in watching children use their imaginations and problem-solving skills to build and create.
Lastly, I love setting up hands-on projects and activities for kids to make and explore.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny, babysitter, or childcare worker is genuinely caring for the child and ensuring their well-being. It’s about listening to them, respecting their feelings, and teaching them how to understand and express themselves. Children may be small, but they have big emotions and deserve to be heard and guided.
Your role goes beyond watching them—it’s about teaching them life skills within their age range, like setting boundaries, managing emotions, and understanding their world. For example, if they’re sad when their parents leave, you can reassure them by explaining, “Mommy and daddy are at work to help take care of you, and they’ll be back soon.

My experience with special needs children...
I have direct experience caring for children with asthma and epilepsy. While neither condition has resulted in attacks or episodes during my care, I am diligent in following protocols and taking preventative measures.
For children with asthma, I rely on my personal experience with the condition to remain attentive to their needs. I monitor their breathing closely, particularly after physical activities, to distinguish between normal tiredness and potential breathing difficulties. I also ensure that any necessary medication, such as inhalers, is easily accessible if needed.
When caring for children with epilepsy, I prioritize understanding their unique triggers and signs, as shared by their parents or guardians. I stay vigilant, especially during nap or sleep times, to ensure their safety and intervene if necessary. Open communication with parents has been essential in understanding how to best meet each child’s needs and providing the attentive care they deserve.

The most important part about being a nanny...
It’s hard to pinpoint just one favorite moment because every day brings something special. One of the things I treasure most is seeing the growth and progress in the children I care for. There’s nothing quite like witnessing a child apply something I’ve taught them—whether it’s sharing with a friend, remembering part of our daily routine, or proudly showing me something they’ve mastered. Those moments remind me that what I’m doing truly matters.
I especially love when I walk through the door and hear, “Teacher Kayla, Teacher Kayla!” as they run up to greet me with hugs and excitement. Whether it’s during circle time, snack time, or free play, every part of our routine feels meaningful. It’s in those little, everyday moments—watching them learn, laugh, and grow—that I find so much joy and fulfillment.
