The most important part about being a nanny...
Caring about kids, watching them learn and grow, and making sure they know that you care about their well-being!
My experience with special needs children...
As a teacher, I've had many experiences with special needs children. Before becoming a teacher, I also worked as a Teacher Assistant in a self-contained Special Needs Middle School Classroom setting.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny made me realize I was ready to be a mom.. . .One of the kids I was caring for, a newborn, had colic/severe reflux and would just cry and cry. I would just walk with her and try to soothe her to sleep and try all the "tricks" her mom had given me to try. The crying never bothered me, even after hours of it. I just felt bad for her because I wish I could fix it. :( It was in those "hard" moments, I knew that I wanted to be a mom. . . (and that I had picked the perfect "profession" for me in teaching, so I could be around kids.)
