"Lainey is incredibly caring, punctual, and reliable. She is very creative with developmental play and includes sensory, music, and time outdoors. She’s been a wonderful companion and nanny to our one year old daughter. We are only parting ways due to relocation but would be thrilled to recommend her to any family."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nanny for a family with a three week old boy and I worked with them until he turned 1. I also worked with a family with a five year old girl for a year and a half. This included kindergarten over zoom, lots of dance parties, dress up, art, and walks to the park. At Webster Child Care Center I started as an infant/toddler teacher working this children from 6weeks old to 24 months. I transitioned to the two year old room and taught a class of 16 with two co teachers. We created lesson plans focusing on the skills of our class. That included fine and gross motor skills, cognitive abilities, social and emotional development, creative arts, and imaginative play. My job now is with an 11m/o and we are introducing solids, learning to crawl, and exploring the house. We sing, read, and dance. Lots of tummy time, naps, and bottle feedings.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I play ukulele and Piano so I love teaching songs and dances. Sensory play is an amazing tool to learn about the environment, physics, coordination and fine motor skills, cause and effect. So I often make playdough or use sensory buckets full of sand, rice, water, noodles, etc. and scoops cups tongs and sponges. Art is super fun! Drawing, painting, learning to use scissors, threading beads to make bracelets and necklaces, gluing, and stamps are all fun art activities I would make available. Dramatic/ imaginative play is one of the most important things for children to engage in. Going on a bear hunt, eating food like a Dinosaur, and playing doctor/ vet with stuffies are some of my favorites. Learning about breath work and body regulation is something I teach as babies grow to be young children. Their emotions will be respected and heard and I will give them tools and language to navigate their emotional needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing is to create trust and teamwork with the family. Open communication and honesty with parents as well as talks about philosophy and goals on how to raise a child will become the most rewarding part of the relationship. It takes a village and I hope to foster the values and ideals in the children of any family I work with. Being honest about the things I notice as a professional care giver and making sure all of the child’s needs are being met is a big part of the parent-care giver relationship as well. Working together is really the most important part. And of course keeping the children safe, cared for, and entertained.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with a family with a boy who is low functioning autistic. He has language and expression barriers which means I took time to learn his non verbal queues. He needed medication multiple times a day. I worked with this family since he was 7 years old and he is now 20. I will still visit him every couple of months. Such a great family :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
I find what interested the child I’m working with and can use it as a tool to expand their development and knowledge. Ex. When singing songs increases language skills, when an art media extends to writing their name.
