A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Lydia, 28 years old, married, and a certified preschool teacher with a diploma from Austria, fluent in both English and German. I have over 5 years of paid childcare experience, and more than 10 years of hands-on experience with children, including working as an Au Pair for children ages 3–8 and as a preschool teacher in Austria for ages 1½–4.

My childcare style blends Montessori and gentle parenting, encouraging independence and emotional awareness while maintaining clear structure, routines, and boundaries when needed.

I love singing, crafting, baking, and turning everyday activities into fun learning experiences. Families describe me as dependable, nurturing, and creative, and I truly enjoy helping children grow with confidence and joy.

Gretchen
"I highly recommend Lydia as a babysitter or nanny! She studied and practiced childcare in Austria for several years, and it is clear that she is highly qualified in the field. She is wonderful with children—my kids (1 and 4.5 years old) both love her to pieces. She is attentive, playful, skilled at setting boundaries, and tends to the needs of parents and children alike. She is also a great cook, keeps spaces tidy, and is able to come up with creative ideas to bring people together. If you are looking for someone trustworthy, empathetic, caring, fun, and responsible, get Lydia!"

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I began training to become a preschool teacher at 14 in Austria, gaining hands-on experience in classrooms and through regular babysitting. After finishing school, I spent almost two years as an Au Pair in the U.S., caring for children ages 3–8 and staying in touch with my host family ever since.

Back in Austria, I worked as a teacher’s assistant supporting children with special needs (including diabetes) and later as a preschool teacher for 2½ years with children ages 1½–4. Since moving to Texas, I’ve been caring for friends’ children (ages 4 months and 4 years).

Altogether, I bring over 10 years of experience with children of different ages and needs, combining creativity, structure, and gentle guidance.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outdoors, playing, walking, or being active together. I enjoy crafting and baking, especially seasonal projects, and can help with homework or reading. I’m also happy to introduce a bit of German if the family wishes. My focus is on balancing fun and structure, encouraging independence and curiosity while supporting the family wherever needed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part is building genuine connections with both children and parents. Childcare isn’t just a job, it’s being emotionally invested in a child’s growth, development, and well-being.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience supporting children with diabetes in a school setting, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day so parents can have peace of mind. I’m trained to provide attentive, consistent care and adapt to each child’s individual needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As an Au Pair, my favorite moments are when I see that all the love and care I put in comes back, knowing I’ve made a genuine, positive impact on a child’s life is incredibly rewarding.
