My name is Maria Hernandez and i am 23 years old. I have previously worked at a Daycare in Utah while I was living there and I absolutely loved working with children. I have taken many classes on how to care for children from infants to school age. I grew up here in Beaverton Oregon and I moved back from Utah in July of 2020. I have always loved to be around children and i am always open to continue educating myself on how to better care for children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One thing I enjoy doing is having an educational theme each week and have different activities regarding the theme. For example, if the theme is space we would do an art project about space or a game that involves space. There is a lot more but this is definitely my favorite thing to do with children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important thing is knowing and understanding the child’s needs. Every child is different and every child has their own way of learning. I like to make things fun so the child starts building skills they will need once they start school.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite memory I have with a child was when we were working on an art project doing finger painting and a little boy was very hard on himself and thinking he couldn’t do it. I went over sat next to him and gave him some encouraging words and told him I would do one too if he would do it with me. He quickly started painting with me. Once him mom picked him up he was very excited to show her what he had done and I just warmed my heart to see how with a couple of encouraging words and a little push could make him so happy. That’s when I knew I wasn’t doing it for the money but because of the children’s smiles and it’s amazing to see their growth within time.
