A little bit about me

Hello. My name is Mary Kern. I have a passion for working with children and would love the opportunity to continue working with them. I love to bake, cook, and stay active. I also like to play board games and card games. I think children are a wonderful gift and want to help them grow! I am a catholic and my faith is important to me. I spent a little bit of time assistant teaching at a Montessori school before I began working as a nanny for a wonderful family. I most recently worked at a residential psychiatric facility as a milieu specialist. I am a Benedictine College graduate. I have gone through First Aid, and CPR training and can recertify as needed.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a nanny for a wonderful family but the role is coming to an end so I am looking for a new opportunity. Before working with this family, I worked in a psychiatric residential facility. Before that, I worked as a nanny another family for three years (four kids). I have worked at a Montessori school, as well as taught religious education for 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade. I have substituted as a Para for both elementary school and high school. I have worked summer camp as well a summer at Boys Town. I have also babysat for several different families when needed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is to help children grow and develop to their fullest potential while being in a safe and stable environment. It is important to help children learn and build skills for life. It is also important to help them love and appreciate life and the many blessings it has to offer. Good communication is also important to have both with the parents and the children.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with many children with special needs while working at a residential facility. I was an assistant at a Montessori school and worked some with a child who had special needs. I volunteered at the special Olympics back in high school. I also substituted as a Para educator where I worked with children who had special needs.
