I've also worked as a summer outdoor school counselor (ages 8-10) and a theater class instructor (ages 7-12).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

So many things, but ultimately anything that sparks a joy for life! I find living to be a magical adventure, and it is a passion of mine to instill that wonder and love into kids. This can mean anything from exploring outside, creating something new, making fun (and safe) messes, moving our bodies, singing too loud, and feeling anything that needs to be felt.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is to help families thrive and to encourage children to chase their joy in the world.

My experience with special needs children...

While I have not worked with any neurodivergent children, I have worked closely with children that were considered "problem" kids during that summers that I was a camp counselor. These were elementary school aged children from a school district in South Portland that were already in "gangs", skipping school, cussing - the whole gambit. While a select few kids never warmed up during our weeks together (some trauma is too deep to be undone by a handful of days in the woods), the majority of kids responded so well when they felt Seen. Just talking to kids at their level, trying to understand where they are at and what they are going through, made such a huge difference, and I will hold those kids in my heart forever.
