More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 2 years of full-time nanny experience. I volunteered with children for 10 years as well as babysat for many years. Worked on staff at a large church in the Early Childhood Department (ages 0-7) for a year and a half. I was also a part-time nanny during that time. Then I moved across the country where I worked at a youth camp for two years (with ages 11-17 year old). I have also taken many classes and courses about Early Childhood Development.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love the wonder a curiosity that children have for the world around them. Going outside and exploring nature, reading books, learning to cook, and interact with those around us. Really any activity that will get a kid asking questions and getting them to use their developing problem-solving skills and imagination.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being able to support the parents and document those important moments that they might miss. As well as just helping kids to learn how to be a person. This is their first time they don't know what they are doing. I think it's very important as responsible adults to help teach these kids and give them the love and support that they need to grow and to become happy, kind, smart, and LOVING individuals.
My experience with special needs children...
At the large church that I worked at, we had a specific department specifically for special needs children. It was set up in a way so that every child with a disability or that just needed some extra attention, and support could still be a part of our classrooms instead of being separated and isolated into their own classrooms. They would be assigned a "one on one" who would generally stay the same every week that way they could really get to know that child and support them the way they need to be supported. My department worked very closely with this department, and I would often step in to help and be an extra support. Also, since these children would be in the classes that I would be teaching in they would still be my students so I would interact and assist them just as I would all of my students even as they have their "one on ones". I have learned a lot through the years. But I am always wanting to learn more.

Hello! I’m from a family of 6 kids and regularly performed babysitter duties with them. I’ve also been babysitting for my family for quite sometime and recently decided I’d like to expand that to others. Genuinely I love working with kids as I am queer and won’t be able to have my own children unfortunately.
