More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have experience working with children in both educational and one-on-one settings. I currently work as a Behavioral Technician, where I support children with autism and work through both low- and high-intensity behaviors using patience, positive reinforcement, and communication skills. I’ve also completed classroom observations through school, where I assisted students and observed classroom management and learning environments. In addition, I volunteered at a community library where I helped organize and lead children’s activities such as arts and crafts, flower making, and Lego events. Through these experiences, I’ve learned how to create a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for children of different ages and needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some activities I enjoy doing with children indoors include drawing, arts and crafts, baking together, building with toys or Legos, and creative play. I’ve always had a passion for art and enjoy encouraging children to express themselves creatively in a fun and positive environment. I also enjoy reading with children, helping with activities, and creating engaging games that keep them entertained while learning.
For outdoor activities, I enjoy playing sports, running around, playing tag, doing bubbles, drawing with chalk, going on walks, and spending time outside enjoying the fresh air. I don’t mind getting messy and enjoy being active and involved with children to help create a fun, safe, and memorable environment for them.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe one of the most important parts of being a nanny is being patient, understanding, and present with children. A lot of the time, children are still learning how to communicate their emotions, needs, and frustrations, and they simply want to feel listened to and understood. I think it’s important to create a safe and supportive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves without feeling judged or misunderstood.
I also believe children deserve someone who genuinely engages with them, gives them attention, and makes everyday moments fun and meaningful. Whether it’s playing games, doing crafts, going outside, or simply spending quality time together, I think building trust and making children feel cared for is one of the most valuable things a nanny can provide.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with children on different areas of the autism spectrum, including both low- and high-support needs. As a Behavioral Technician, I’ve worked one-on-one with children who may display a variety of behaviors, including high-intensity behaviors or aggression. Through my experience, I’ve learned the importance of staying calm, patient, understanding, and supportive during challenging moments while helping children feel safe and understood.
I truly enjoy working with children with special needs and helping them grow in their communication, social, and daily living skills. My experience in this field has made me even more passionate about working with children, and it’s something I hope to continue pursuing as a future career.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments working with a child was during a really calm and fun day we spent together coloring, playing games, and watching a movie. We had built a really good connection over time, and at the end of the session when it was time for me to leave, she kept asking me to stay and didn’t want me to go home yet. Although it was a simple moment, it meant a lot to me because it reminded me how important it is for children to feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for around the people supporting them. Building those trusting relationships and seeing children feel happy and excited to spend time with me is one of the most rewarding parts of working with kids.

Full-Time Nanny Available in Huntington Beach, CA: Hafdis M.
Hi, my name is Hafdís. I’ve been caring for children since I was about 10 years old, starting with babysitting in my community and naturally growing into childcare as a lifelong part of who I am.
When I was 19, I moved from Iceland to Los Angeles to work as a live-in nanny / au pair for a year, which deepened my experience in structured, full-time childcare and adapting to different family dynamics and routines.
Since then, I’ve worked in kindergartens, supported families in both short-term and long-term childcare roles, and I am also a professional doula, which has given me additional hands-on experience with newborn care, infant support, and emotional presence during early development stages.
I’ve spent most of my adult life working closely with children of all ages, and I bring a calm, attentive, and reliable presence into every home I work in. I genuinely enjoy creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children feel secure and understood.
