Hi there! I’m MeLissa, a professional career nanny with over 30 years of experience caring for children from newborns through the teen years. I have extensive experience with infants, multiples, developmental delays, autism, ADHD, sensory needs, and medically complex children. I’m CPR and First Aid certified, hold a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, and have additional training in newborn care, Article 9, ASL, safe sleep, swim supervision, and child development.

I’m warm, dependable, organized, and very hands-on. I believe children thrive when they feel safe, loved, respected, and encouraged to be themselves. I enjoy creating age-appropriate activities, outings, routines, learning opportunities, and plenty of fun along the way.

I have also provided care for children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, sensory needs, and medical needs, which has given me a strong understanding of individualized care and different learning styles. Over the years, I have worked closely with families, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to help children feel safe, supported, confident, and successful. I truly enjoy being involved in a child’s development, whether that means helping with early learning, social skills, independence, emotional regulation, creative play, or simply being the trusted adult they know they can depend on.

I love creating fun, age appropriate activities that keep children active, curious, learning, and engaged. I enjoy arts and crafts, sensory play, reading, music, dancing, imaginative play, puzzles, games, baking, simple science projects, and activities that support developmental milestones. Outdoors, I love trips to the park, nature walks, splash pads, swimming, playgrounds, picnics, and exploring new places. I also enjoy taking children to libraries, museums, zoos, indoor play spaces, story times, and other local activities. I believe children learn so much through play and everyday experiences, so I love turning ordinary moments into opportunities to explore, create, build confidence, and have fun. I also enjoy planning activities around each child’s interests, personality, age, and individual needs so they feel included, successful, and excited about their day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is having the privilege of watching children grow, change, learn, and become more confident in who they are every single day. I love being there for the big milestones, but I also value the smaller moments that sometimes mean even more. Helping a child work through something difficult, watching them master a new skill, hearing them use a new word, seeing their confidence grow, or knowing they feel safe enough to come to me when they need comfort. I believe being a nanny means becoming a consistent, trusted, and loving presence in a child’s life while supporting the parents and respecting the way they want their children raised. Every child is different, and I love getting to know who they are as an individual and helping them grow at their own pace. Being able to make a positive difference in a child’s life while creating memories and relationships that can last for years is what makes this career so meaningful to me.

I have extensive hands on experience caring for children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, sensory processing needs, cerebral palsy, behavioral challenges, and other medical and developmental needs. I understand that every child is different, so I adjust my approach to meet each child where they are while encouraging independence, confidence, communication, and growth. I have experience supporting therapy goals, sensory activities, emotional regulation, mobility needs, routines, transitions, and individualized care plans. I am also Article 9 trained and comfortable working alongside parents, therapists, teachers, and other members of a child’s care team. Most importantly, I believe every child deserves to feel understood, included, respected, safe, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments aren’t really one single moment. They’re the little things that happen over the years and stay with you forever. Watching a baby take their first steps, hearing a new word for the first time, seeing a child finally accomplish something they have been working so hard toward, or having them run into my arms because they are genuinely excited to see me. Some of the children I have cared for have remained part of my life for years, and watching them grow into their own personalities has been one of the greatest gifts of being a nanny. I love knowing that I was able to be a safe, loving, consistent person during such an important part of their childhood. The hugs, the silly inside jokes, the artwork made “just for Nanny MeLissa,” the milestones, and even the ordinary everyday moments are the memories I treasure most. To me, nannying has never just been a job. The relationships and bonds created along the way are what make this career so special. ❤️
