A little bit about me

Hi! I am looking for a job as a nanny because I absolutely love caring for kids and helping parents when they need an extra hand.

I taught preschool for almost 5 years and then became a Site Director for an after school program. During COVID, everything changed for me. Because of the school closures and the economy at that point, I took a job teaching university students online. While it pays the bills, it is not my very fulfilling.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I taught preschool for nearly 5 years and then became the Site Director for an after school program.

I still regularly work with kids at my church, teaching bible lessons to young kids. My class is age 1-4. I also babysit for my mom friends at church. These lovely ladies have anywhere from three to six kids, ages 3 months to 12 years old.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with special needs children for my entire career. Both the preschool and the after school program I worked at were considered "inclusive." That means we had special needs students mixed in with all the other kids. This taught me how to work with them in a way that doesn't make them feel different or "othered."

I have worked with children on the Autism spectrum. One of the students in my after school program was non-verbal, and one of them had Aspergers. I have worked with children who have learning disabilities and other cognitive delays.

Lastly, I have been diagnosed with ADHD since I was 7. I can completely connect with neurodivergent kids, as a result. I know how to speak to them and how to help them. And I completely understand when ADHD kids have frustrations with changing tasks or overstimulation. I've got my ADHD under control, but I know what it is like to feel different. I am able to connect with special needs kids as a result.
