I cared for my autistic nephew from a couple months old until he was about 5 and would watch my neighbors autistic son, occasionally, when she needed extra help. It was definitely a learning experience and it helped me understand the needs of others as well as teach me different ways to interact with children and adults that need a little extra patience and care.

My most memorable moment was when a small group of kids at the foster home i’d help at, surprised me with handmade cards and balloons for my birthday. It made me feel good because it showed me that I had made some kind of impact on these children’s life’s for them to want to do something like that for me,
