Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a Daycare Teacher at SonShine Christian Academy for 2 and a half years. I have been babysitting since I was 16. Most recently I was a regular babysitter for a family with a one year old and a two year old. During that time, I was also a summer nanny for a family that had a seven year old, five year old, and a 3 year old.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing crafts and engaging in imaginary play. I also enjoy playing outside, swimming, going to fun places with the children. I also love teaching them how to cook/bake and letting the children help as much as possible.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I personally feel like having great communication better the parents and myself is very important. I allow everyone to be on the same page and there is not mixed signals sent to the kids.
My experience with special needs children...
I have my certification in Special Need and Inclusive Education. At the SonShine Christian Academy, I worked with several children who had a disability and/or had special needs. I myself had ADHD and can relate and help children with disorder function.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Some of my favorite nanny moments are when this past summer I taught the three year old how to make cookies and he got to scoop the dough on to the baking sheets. The smile and laughter that was coming from him made his parents stop working for a few minutes and enjoy the moment. I still brings a smile to my face thinking about it. Another moment that is a favorite, is when the one year old sees me arrive to their house and they try the yeet themselves out of their mom's arms to come and hug me. Their mom thought it was adorable because they were never like that and typically preferred to be held by their mom.
