The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure that your child is kept safe is number one priority but also that your child is having fun, learning, feeling loved, safe, and cared while with me is extremely important too! I also am a huge believer that building a close, healthy, trusting bond with the family is high up on the list of important things as well!
My experience with special needs children...
My most recent nanny position was to care for a 3 year old little girl who has agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC). To briefly explain what ACC is the nerve pathway that connects the right and left side of your brain, she was born without. So she isn’t able to walk, crawl, eat solid foods, talk, not potty trained. I pre made all her food, I took her to speech, occupational, and physical therapy, worked with her at home on what her therapists are teaching her, changed her diapers, etc! In my opinion I have A LOT of experience when it comes to caring for a child with special needs!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments is the first time the little boy I used to nanny for said to me “Reagan is my best friend and her loves me so much”! I said “you are absolutely right sweet boy”! Another thing that makes my heart melt on the daily is being greeted with a huge hug and smile as soon as I walk through the door! And of course every milestone a child has reached while with me has made me over the moon happy!
