A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Becky! I have been working with children since I was 14 years old. Between summer camps, working as an educator in the outdoor education field, as a residential coordinator for a mental health treatment center, and as a nanny/at home assistant teacher during the COVID 19 pandemic. I've pretty much done it all! I love working with children, because of their innocent curiosity and excitement for most things in the world. Teaching is a passion of mine and led me to teaching environmental and outdoor education after receiving my BS In Environmental Science and Policy from Plymouth State University in 2015. I have experience with working and managing groups of children and adolescents ages 3-18 in many different scenarios. At home, in school, out in the field guiding hikes, snorkel and sea kayak trips, and overnight camping trips. My other passions include traveling, gardening, teaching yoga, teaching snowboarding, hiking, and most activities in the outdoors!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love guiding children in the outdoors. This includes hiking when appropriate, swimming and paddle boarding in lakes and rivers, journaling, looking for crawdads and tadpoles, and adventures in the forest. I love facilitating games and arts and crafts as well. I'm also passionate about teaching mindfulness, yoga, and snowboarding.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked at a mental health treatment center where I worked with teenagers suffering from many different mental health diseases. Many residents were on the spectrum as well. I have experience in descalation techniques.
