I was a business woman with 2 kids and no help and did great! So Proud of my sons! And, with someone alse kids, my heart was there as well. Always my 5 senses, and soul being with them, and as another member of the family.

While I have energy, -I'm only 61,-
I enjoy a lot with children, I can play a lot of things, hide, swim, board games, dance, -I like it a lot, although I do it when there is no one with me-. Sing as well, ..lol. Read or listen to them do it. Be aware of their schedules, for school, activities, meals, tell stories, real stories, teach them another language, puzzles, etc.

The 12 year old, identical twins, I got over it :)
All and each one have been special, different, can't, "act" the same in every home, We have to adapt to families, their ideas, ways of being. We must have respect for each and every one.

The most important part about being a nanny...
please the parents, take care of the child as my own, knowing how immportant will be our actitud, example, off course, always folowing the parents wishes/preferences. Eat helathy, be active, good habits/manners. Warm and giving individual who is willing to work within the family.
My experience with special needs children...
Well, ..No much, I was for only 4 months with an autístic boy. I can say it was fine, he was nice with me, eating everything I was cooked for him, asking for little more, the mom told me he only like chips with ranch dressing, so, I was so glad to see him eating with me. After his school hours he was watchin a movie, quiet, lots of hours wanted me to be next to him. His epileptic seizures were always at night when he was with his parents. No much more to say about it.

Being with them, seeing them happy and learning from me as I am from them is very pleasant, a delight.
