The most important part is to remember to keep your own cool. Children are like sponges and will soak up everything about you. It’s important to me that any childcare worker should put their best smile, attitude and self forward to any child in their care.
My experience with special needs children...
My youngest brother is on the Autism spectrum. I have been caring for him since I was ten years old. In 2019, I used my personal experience to start and work as a teachers assistant/ one-on-one aide at the local elementary school. From there, I have moved up to full special education classrooms, ranging from pre-k to post high school education. I ended my special education career as a SPED teacher this last May.
