Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a counselor at a 2-day medieval camp for eight year olds, and I taught some classes at a week-long nature day camp to kids between the ages of 5 and 13. I've also babysat a lot and have been an oldest sister of 5 kids :)
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, playing games and in general doing whatever the children enjoy! I've had fun experiences baking with kids, playing piano (which I am not good at) with them and taking them to nearby parks or for walks when they are old enough.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny, in my opinion, is listening. I believe kids can be smarter than adults at times and they come up with brilliant ideas when we take the time to listen to them. Even young toddlers and babies who don't talk yet are able to express their emotions through smiles and gurgles, and I love to be there for those moments.
My experience with special needs children...
I spent two years caring for a toddler with cerebral palsy, which was such a rewarding experience for me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most memorable moments are the mundane and ordinary ones. I remember one time, when my two-year-old charge fell asleep cuddled against me on the couch while we were watching her current favorite Disney movie, Tangled. She was so sweet and looked so comfortable, and I couldn't get up because she wouldn't let go of my arm. I love the little moments like that, and they are what make me love nannying.
