A little bit about me

Hello! I am a recent graduate of a Bachelor's in Health Science with two minors in both Strength and Conditioning, and Spanish. I am currently studying a Master of Sport and Psychology online. I have a deep passion for working with kids and kids/adults with disabilities. I am a very adaptable person, a problem solver, compassionate, and thoughtful in everything that I do. I have taken care of many age groups of kids within several settings including but not limited to, nannying for a 3 month old until 9 months, teaching English to high school students in Spain, babysitting kids from a few months old to 12 years old (including a child who is non-verbal and autistic), teaching swim lessons for ages 3-6, lifeguarding (all ages), kid care (infants to 12 years old), and personal training adults with disabilities. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a full-time nanny for a 3 month old until they were 9 months old, babysat for 4 years of family friends and those of different career connections, for ages of 2 month-olds, to some being between 3 and 12 years old. I have coached kids of all ages in sports for 3 years now, along with having had 5 years of experience teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding. I have a year of experience working directly to personal train adults with disabilities including autism, downsyndrome, etc. which I continue to do now. I have worked in kids care while working at the ymca several times over the past 2 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Sports, arts and crafts (painting, drawing, coloring, clay, playdough, etc.), playing imagination games, video games (with a time limit of course!), picnics, outdoor walks in nature, and board games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being any kind of caregiver in any way for children, is providing a safe, inclusive environment through every interaction and gesture, to ensure the child/children have a space to feel comforted and be as unique and corky as they can be!

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience babysitting a 6 year-old twin with non-verbal autism while watching the two other sisters (one twin sister and the other 10 years old). I also currently strength train adults of a variety of ages (23-32 right now) with disabilities including autism and down syndrome. I was always a part of the buddy program for several years going into a classroom with those around my same age with disabilities, doing arts and crafts, as well as sports outside with them. I am currently trying to sign-up to help with the special olympics.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was in my last nanny position and took the infant to story time at a local library and then to play in the toy area and for the first time they stood up using a chair and smiled at me.
