Babysitting
As of right now I am babysitting a year and a half year old and come June will be helping the mom with her newborn. I spend half days with River where we focus on developing her physically and mentally! River is a very independent baby when her mom is not around. We have been working on associating animals with sounds and colors with names. She is very intelligent and knows how to put a smile on your face. I prepare snacks and her afternoon bottle as well as changing diapers and having fun! I also babysat my younger cousins when I was 12 where I had the responsibility of making sure they were occupied while my aunt and uncle were out. I also have more experience as a camp counsellor for three years and a Dance teacher for two years. Feel free to reach out to hear about these experiences!

The most important part of being a nanny is putting in all your effort 100% of the time. Children see everything that you do if that is being lazy around them or working to your best ability!
My experience with special needs children...
S.M.I.L.E
For two semesters I volunteered at the SMILE program in Wolfville Nova Scotia where I attended the needs of those with disabilities. I spent every Friday night with these participants to work on their overall well-being. We set SMART goals for the participant so that as trainers we knew what needed to be worked on each week. My participant was 41-year-old women with down syndrome. We spent most of our time working on her motor skills such as throwing, catching and hitting. We then would move on to her mental abilities such as working on her social skills. Kristy absolutely loved the program, and we still keep in touch even though I have graduated!

My favourite nanny moment would have to be seeing the light bulb go off in children’s heads when they start to understand what it is you are trying to teach them!
