I’m an experienced arts educator, artist, and proud mother of three with over 20 years of working with children through teaching art, African dance, and music. Affectionately known as “Mama T” by hundreds of young people across Houston, I’ve built lasting relationships with families by nurturing creativity, confidence, and joy.

Now nearing my empty-nester years, I’m excited to continue my passion for child care in a more personal, home-based setting as a live-in nanny. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

...my years working as a cultural arts educator, camp and workshop instructor, and most recently, working as a nanny. I have over 20 years of experience leading youth activities through dance, drumming, arts and crafts, storytelling, and cultural enrichment programs. I’ve worked with children of many ages and personalities, including neurodivergent children, and I prioritize patience, safety, creativity, and emotional awareness. I recently had the honor of supporting a family of a special needs toddler through throughout their pregnancy and babymoon as a live in nanny.

Thanks to my years as a homeschooler and educator, I’m especially good at keeping children engaged through creative activities instead of relying heavily on screens. My approach is nurturing, calm, firm, and attentive to each child’s individual needs. I believe its important to connect with children warmly, giving them a safe space to learn and grow while still maintaining clear boundaries and routines.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was present with her parents when my little Bug took her first unassisted steps. Their backs were to her when I whispered for them to look so we didn't startle her. After a few steps she plopped down and we all cheered and had a mini dance party. It was so cute! It made me reminisce about my own children's first steps. One of the things I truly love about being a nanny is time with little ones because my children are grown now. Until I get to be a grandmother, I'll enjoy being Mama T to all my community babies.
