A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Tia. I love working with kids particularly infants and young toddlers but I also work with older kids and I'm happy to help with their schoolwork if needed. As for experience, I've been babysitting since middle school. I am currently studying child development to work more formally and professionally with kids and their families. I understand that each family and child is different so I like to accommodate that. I also grew up cooking so I'm very confident in the kitchen about my ability to make healthy, tasty food if needed. Covid is still very prevalent even if it isn't as newsworthy so I do take precautions and wear masks in public areas. But besides that, I am fairly relaxed as I believe positivity and meeting the child's needs are key to good caretaking

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have babysat before when I was younger. Before the pandemic I worked with a toddler from when he was 18months old until things started to shut down and my services weren't needed anymore. I currently also volunteer in my church's Sunday school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading with children of any age. I like being silly with them with fun songs especially if there's a fun little dance it helps get moving and it is just fun for everyone really. Specific outdoor activities, I enjoy nature walks where interacting with the kids and the environment is more hands on and inspires learning.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with autism spectrum disorder in the past and my younger brother also has it so I am very aware of the intricacies where children might not be able to understand or communicate in a neurotypical way. As for physical disabilities, I am not as familiar with them but in my opinion meeting the needs of children where they are at developmentally and helping them grow from there is just part of the job.
