More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have taken care of kids at my past schools, taking care of the Kindergarten children while the teachers were in meetings for a few hours, plus some kids that used to hang around my neighbourhood. They'd always come see me and hangout and some would invite me to bike with them and come to their house. Back then I also played the acoustic guitar, so I'd just play songs while we ate snacks. Also in the dorms I was in, there were children and most of the time they would be with me since the since no one really had any patience and they didnt like children. I rarely slept haha since they always slept with me in my bed or next to me with the bed right up against mine. It was nice and cozy though, I didnt mind it at all. They'd always listen to me and I was often the only one who could get them to do certain things. I miss them. Ive taken care of many children, and have videos of us playing together and just spending time and acting goofy which I’d be happy to share!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Anything they want really. Most of the things young children like to do, I also do, just because I can be a child at heart and like doing stuff like that. I can play with dolls with the girls, braid their hair, dress them up, have nice fashion shows, have tea time and pretend we are having a cute little tea party with tiny teacups haha. With the boys, I can play soccer if they like that, or build stuff with them, or make things, or bike with them, anything really. I enjoy doing most things.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe it’s important to get along with the children. Not only as a substitute guardian, but also as someone they can rely on and talk to and be comfortable with. I generally like to be on a friendly basis with them, so they can relate to me on that kind of level but also seen as someone they need to listen to. And with the way I’ve done it before, I’ve been able to have a close friendship with them while also being able to discipline and enforce good behavior in a way that doesn’t seem annoying or nagging and they actually want to listen. Because if they respect me and like me as a friend and person, then of course they would listen to me because they know I want what is best for them and wouldn’t do it for any negative reason. That is what I believe.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with a child who was extremely isolated and not very social but it went well! He was actually a pretty nice kid and warmed up to me pretty quickly while I was there.
I have also worked taking care of a 4 year old child. He didn’t speak, only made sounds and was very active. He and I bonded pretty well but I ended up deciding that I was going to leave the job because of the environment. He wasn't disciplined very well and when he would get angry he’d pinch me leaving my skin red. I wouldn’t have a problem if the mom let me help but She wouldn’t discipline him at all and didn’t allow me to so I got no support. The mom mostly just let him do what he wanted and gave him the iPad. I trained him to go potty but she would give him a diaper when I wasn’t there so he would always hate to sit on it which made my efforts a waste. To be completely honest, I was just always stressed and couldn’t handle it. I was unhappy and that made my job unpleasant

The most important part about being a nanny...
The child I used to babysit every Sunday, his name is Gerard, he always comes into my room when I'm not out in the living room and constantly brings me stuff. I always end up with a pile of things on my floor. He also likes to take my hand so that I can walk around the house with him and so that he can show me things. My favorite part is where, when it's lunch time, I sit down at my chair, and he just grabs my shirt so that he can sit on me and asks me to feed him with his hand. I can go on about so much more, if you'd like I can send you videos! He really is a treasure. There is also a 3, now 4 month old Evelyn, who always looks at me and smiles and she is really clingy and always wants me to hold her and be with her. I have a lot of pictures and videos haha. There’s also another kid, who would always follow me around and was constantly next to me or on me, and if I wasn’t nearby he would constantly call my name and talk. I’d love to tell you more about them if you were ever curious!
