More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes my work as a nanny and art teacher over the past 4 years. During this time, I have had the pleasure of looking after children of various ages, providing them with a safe and supportive environment. I’ve been involved in planning and leading creative activities, such as painting, drawing, and other art projects, which helped the children express themselves while also fostering their cognitive and emotional development. Additionally, I’ve gained valuable experience in managing daily routines, preparing meals, and offering general childcare support, always ensuring their well-being and happiness.
I have also worked with children in informal settings, such as art workshops and community programs, where I’ve been able to develop a deeper understanding of their needs and interests. These experiences have reinforced my ability to engage with children in a meaningful and creative way, always fostering and nurturing atmosphere.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities I enjoy doing with children include a wide range of creative and educational experiences. I love organizing art projects like painting, drawing, and crafting, which allow the children to explore their imagination and express themselves freely. I also enjoy outdoor activities, such as playing games, going on nature walks, or visiting parks, where children can stay active and connect with the world around them. Additionally, I like reading stories, organizing simple science experiments, or playing educational games that encourage learning while having fun.
Most importantly, I always strive to tailor activities to each child’s interests, ensuring they feel excited and engaged while helping them grow in different areas of their development. Every activity is an opportunity to bond and help them discover new passions.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is building trust and creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel loved, respected, and supported. As a caregiver, my role goes beyond just ensuring their physical well-being; it’s about fostering emotional growth, encouraging their creativity, and helping them develop life skills. It’s essential to connect with each child individually, understanding their unique needs, interests, and personality, to offer the right balance of guidance and freedom.
Being a nanny also means being a positive role model, teaching values like kindness, patience, and respect, while creating moments of fun and learning. Ultimately, my goal is to be a source of support that helps children feel secure and confident as they grow and explore the world around them.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when one of the children I was caring for created their first painting completely on their own. I had been guiding them through different techniques, and one day, they decided to try something new without any help. Watching their face light up with pride as they saw their work come together was incredibly rewarding. It was a beautiful moment of growth and confidence, and it reminded me of the importance of encouraging children to explore their creativity and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small.
That moment perfectly captured why I love working with children – it’s those simple, joyful experiences that make all the effort worthwhile and create lasting memories for both of us.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Brooklyn, NY: Leo T.
Hi there! My name is Leo. I am an openly trans and queer affirming nanny.
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2017 with a BA in Sociology. I also completed one year of graduate school, with a focus in social work. However, I left to pursue a career in filmmaking. Still, my background is primarily in community building & community care, and heavily influences my approach to childcare.
I have over 10 years of experience with newborns & infants. I also lived with friends who had children and I acted as an additional caregiver-- a very chosen family / community-focused approach. Care responsibilities included: tummy time activities, sleep training, contact naps, potty training, transporting to and from infant swim classes, and administering medication related to asthma (inhalers / chambers). I'm patient, creative, and organized. I love dogs and cats. I have built incredible stamina for listening to Rafi on repeat 🙂
