A little bit about me

I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oregon, and five years of experience working with little ones, including as a nanny and in formal early childhood education centers. I am also the mother to a sweet, funny and brilliant 20-month-old son named Leon. My ultimate goal is to become a couple’s and family therapist. I am hoping to find a position that will allow me to bring my little one to work with me and work with one or two other little ones so that they can benefit from the socialization and hopefully be long term friends (: I am looking for full time positions only that pay 17-25 an hour. If my profile is still up at means I am still looking for a position. Only available for long term employment ~ one year or more.

I have worked as a toddler teacher, infant teacher, and nanny for the last five years in Eugene

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love gardening, playing music, teaching little ones guitar, and anything outside. I feel like following the natural interest of the little ones that I work with is the best way to create a day that is both full of learning and fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is maintaining the structure and creative energy that the family is working so hard to build at home. As a nanny, it is my job to not only bring new and interesting activities and helpful perspectives to the table, but it is also my job to become an extension of the existing family dynamic where I will be serving. It is important to me to make your little one comfortable and happy above all else, and for me that most of the time means trying to emulate the behaviors and energy that has already been exemplified by the excellent mothers who I work with.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working with little ones who have both ADHD and autism. As somebody who is on the spectrum myself and also a high functioning ADHDer I feel that I have an easier time relating to children who are not “neurotypical”.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It’s hard to pick. I do have to say that I always feel very proud of myself when I get a little one down for a nap on time without the little one feeling rushed to sleep. It’s a beautiful feeling to relax and enjoy the silence knowing that a little one has played to their heart’s content and felt comfortable enough to fall asleep in my presence.
