Hello, I would love to help you out. Let me tell you a little bit about myself so you can decide if I'd be a good fit. I love to cook and I'm constantly on the hunt for the next best recipe. I read a lot, but when I'm not reading I'm either painting or doing some other craft/DIY project. Kids and I have always gotten along which is why I've fallen in love with nannying and babysitting. I finished up the school year with two families that I will truly miss, but I'm looking forward to a new school year with a new batch of kiddos. My experience has been with 1st-5th grade boys and girls (as well as a mother's helper for a 2.5 year old), from tutoring to monitoring play dates. I have experience working with multiples as well. My past responsibilities have been: tutoring, play dates, pick-ups, homework help, making dinner, housekeeping, etc. If you need references, all of the families I've worked for would be willing to give you one. I've been hoping to work with a family from 5:30-whenever at night, to fill in my work day. I'm scheduled to start working for another family starting in September from 8-10 & 3-5pm in Long Beach.

I volunteer at Bethany Church Mom’s program as lead teacher for three year olds. I enjoy preparing and executing the weekly program to the children’s delight. I prepare them for snack time, supervise playground time, instruct craft project, music time, and game time. I like to incorporate learning tools in activities. I also volunteered weekly for Bethany’s children choir for five year olds. I acted as table mom at snack time, kept children focused for rehearsal, and gave stickers for memory verse recital. I have been a volunteer counselor for children age 4-12 at New Hope Kids Grief Club since 2005. It is an eight-week program offered two times a year designed to help kids cope with grief and anger. I plan and execute the weekly lesson, activities, and crafts specifically designed for grieving children. I am able to demonstrate calmness, fairness, and professionalism while instructing children in class. I am able to stay focused in a sometimes disruptive and noisy environment. I also volunteer at New Hope’s weekend camp twice a year. It provides a safe place for the kids to develop new friendships, receive love and acceptance, and be free to express their feelings and fears. I introduce life tools so the children can express their anger in a safe and healthy way. Another one of my favorite volunteer opportunities is Special Olympics. I have been volunteering with Special Olympics since 2007. I help set up the family tent and food preparation to serve the athletes and their family. I chaperon the more challenged athletes to the onsite carnival zone for their safety and protection.

Hello, my name is Jan, and I am 24.I have a lot of experience working with children from newborns to 11 years old. Ever since I was young I loved the idea of helping, and taking care of others. When I was younger I loved helping my Mom take care of my 3 little cousins. I have 2 nephews and 1 niece that I adore!! I babysit them from time to time, or just have them over for some "Auntie Jan" time. I have worked with 2 families in the past, and just finished working with my third, they moved. My first family was in Sherman Oaks for 2 boys. This job consisted of drop offs, pick ups, snacks, dinner, homework, showers, and bedtime.. My second family was for 2 girls and 1 boy in Cerritos. I did live in work with them for almost a year. I managed a different schedule for each child. This job consisted of home schooling the 2 eldest when I first started until they switched over to public school. I potty trained the youngest, I dropped off and picked up the kids from school, helped with homework, took them to their sports after school, cooking, cleaning, Dr. appointments, administering medications, traveled once, helped with birthday parties... and the list goes on. My last family I was taking care of a 1 year old boy in Los Altos 3 days a week. This family only requested that I clean up after anything the baby and I do. On occasions I also took care of his older brother who was diagnosed with mild autism, and was transferred into special needs classes. I am looking for better opportunities, and to expand myself. My last family moved away, so I am looking for new placement. Along with that, I am always willing to learn and try new things. I also worked for a friends mother as a personal assistant at her office in Van Nuys for a short period of time. I enjoy doing arts and crafts with the children, long walks, playing at the park, reading..... I love to see the advancement in children, and watch them grow. My availability is OPEN. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon! -Jan

This past year I worked as a nanny for a young single mom trying to finish school. Weekdays I would watch her 2 year old daughter, as well as her newborn son. It was a huge responsibility to take on, but it turned out to be an incredible experience. At first I spent time with the mom, watching her routine with the kids and taking notes on how she preferred things. We discussed her expectations for care as well as my responsibilities and daily duties. Soon I felt confident in my ability to nurture, protect, care, and teach these young minds. Everyday we stuck to a schedule as best as possible- I tried to keep a routine by ensuring they ate and napped around the same time every day. We had fun taking walks, exploring at the park, and singing lots of songs. I grew to love the entire family, and was happy to see the mom finish school. They let me go once she graduated, but we still keep in touch!

I am the oldest of 18 grandchildren, so you can imagine the years of experience (and craziness) I have just by babysitting all of my family. Since I was around 10/11 years old my parents/aunts and uncles would trust me for hours babysitting their children. They had no doubts on their mind, because I've always loved caring for babies, toddlers, and little children. I know how to change diapers, make dinner, heat bottles, poddy - train, put children to bed, and show the kids a good time! I take pleasure in caring and playing with children to hours on end. I go to college in Chicago, but have grown up in Los Angeles so I am very comfortable driving in LA and familiar with the area. I currently nanny a family in Lincoln Park and babysit their children from 4-9 mondays, tuesdays, and wednesdays. My job is to drive into downtown Chicago, pick up the kids, take them home, clean their lunch pales, do the dishes/light housework, prep dinner, take them to dance practice , and put them to bed by eight. They are 12 and 13 years old and I love hanging out with them everyday. I also have alot of experience with newborns, as you can tell we've had alot of new additions to our large family along the years. So, whenever the parents were tired, I'd take advantage of that and play with adorable babies.
