A little bit about us

My husband and I are both medical residents and are expecting our first baby in July. Once we go back to work from maternity/paternity leave (around early September) we are going to need a full time nanny that works well with our work schedules. Our schedules vary month to month so we are open to hiring at a base salary rather than hourly rate so that you're guaranteed a steady income even when our schedules are a little more open and we don't need a nanny as often. Sometimes our schedules are 8am-5pm, other times they're 6am-7pm so we really need someone flexible (though we will be able to tell you at the beginning of the month what the next couple of weeks will look like). We are looking for someone reliable who is willing to make a long term commitment as we will need help with childcare over the next two years at least.

A little bit about us

My husband and I are expecting our son in October and will be going back to work in January. We would like to secure a nanny for part time work mostly during the week, and one or two weekend days a month.

My hours are not set at work and vary drastically, however my husband is home no later than 7:30 pm every night and he works Monday through Friday. We would need someone to be available by 5 am some days and on those days I would be home no later than 5:30 pm.

What is an Infant Nanny in Winston-Salem, NC

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Winston-Salem, NC? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
