A little bit about us

Hello! My husband and I are professionals that commute Monday through Friday to NYC for work. We are looking for a fun, energetic, individual to care for our one year old son and his sister who will be joining us in November. We prefer that the candidate knows how to swim as we do have a pool, as well as, a clean driving record and would be comfortable taking him places. The schedule would be Monday-Thursday 6:30am-6pm. We are currently a pet free household. We prefer candidates with strong English skills, we are proficient in spanish.

A little bit about us

My name is John Henkel. I'm looking for someone part time and or full time. I am moving to Pound Ridge next week. I am a solo parent with a very busy professional life. The kids and I just really need help with timing and challenges presented in day to day logistics. I have a two year old daughter (Mackenzie) and a 5 year old son (Hudson). I need someone mainly to assist with them in the morning and seeing them off to school and or daycare and then some help in afternoon receiving them from daycare or school and watching them for a few hours in the afternoon until I can get home from work. Live in is available. Access to a car if you have a drivers license. Both Hudson and Mackenzie are wonderful fun children. They love to be outside playing in the yard. Schedule would be Monday through Friday 7 am - 10 am and 2 pm- 6pm. Occasional Saturday if you are available but not a requirement.
I have a female German Shepherd named Lola who is a total sweet heart, no need to tend to her. She can go in and out of the house as she pleases as property is completely fenced in. I mention it for those who may be allergic.
Thank you in advance for the consideration.

A little bit about us

Our daughter is a wonderful girl just finishing 6th grade. She is very busy with her friends, her school activities and her pony! An animal lover is a must since in addition to the pony she has two German Shepherds who she absolutely adores. Both my husband and I are busy professionals and can't always guarantee we can be home when she needs us to be, so a reliable, responsible and loving nanny is a necessity to us. We have always had a live-in nanny, but as our daughter is now older, our nanny will be less about actual childcare, but more about being a mother's helper in seeing that homework is done properly, that she is safely driven to where she needs to go, and that the house being managed well in my absence. Our current, and even past nannies would be happy to speak with interested candidates to answer questions you may have about us and the position from the perspective of the nanny. We have been very fortunate in the wonderful and loving nannies we have had in the past and hope to continue with a new nanny that becomes a real member of our family.

Given that live in nanny positions can be exactly what some families want, it's very important to create a shared set of expectations around hours, responsibilities, and what is expected of you when you're not on the clock.

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a live-in nanny job interview. Here is a list of some live-in nanny interview questions you should ask:

  • Can you tell me about where in the house I will live? Will I have my own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc? Do I have my own entrance?
  • What are your expectations around the cleanliness and tidiness of my living quarters?
  • What level of privacy can I expect after hours?
  • Will I have a curfew in the evenings when I am in charge of the kids the next day?
  • Can I have guests over during my days off and only with the employers prior agreement? Am I allowed guests overnight?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
