A little bit about me
I started nannying at 19 for a lovely family in Watch Hill, RI. The family was moving from London to Washington, DC, and had asked me to join them as their live-in nanny. I traveled to different countries with them and helped with online learning. I continued nannying until I was 23, when I transitioned to working in a kindergarten classroom.
Before I was a nanny, I was a lifeguard and swim instructor, and now I am a swim coach, so I have strong experience around water and hold all necessary first-aid and safety certifications. I swam in high school as well, so I’ve always loved being in the water and staying active outdoors.

A little bit about me
I live in Mystic Ct and I have been in childcare for 10 years with experience in ages ranging from 4 weeks to 12 years! I am nurturing, positive, organized, and trustworthy. I am an artist who loves to bring my creativity wherever I go which means lots of arts and crafts projects with the little ones and precious keepsakes for Mom and Dad! I am happy to help with meal prep, light house keeping, and giving all the love and snuggles to your furry friends too. Along with all the basic needs I've also helped implement a schedule, encourage physical, mental, and verbal development and worked towards correcting challenging behavior. I'm very keen on direct communication because it allows me to keep consistency between parents and caregivers which I find very important. I'm more than happy to provide reference letters on request. I hope that I'm a great fit for your family, and I hear from you soon :)

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Stonington, CT
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
Stonington Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in Stonington? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Stonington?
- Do you have a driver’s license in CT? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
