Hi my name is Iman and I am 19 years old and I am interested in becoming a nanny because I like helping others. I have more babysitting experience than nannying. But I am a fast learner! I hope to be of help to your family!

I have never been a "nanny", but I have been a babysitter most of my life. Eight after my dad passed away, in 2013, I watched kids ALL the time. I'm willingly to learn and willingly to be there for the family.

I love kids,I love to help others in need, and honestly a good reason why I believe I’m a good nanny is because I’ve taken care of my little cousins from ages 2-6. It was honestly the most fun I’ve had snd being with kids is just great and I would love to care for those in need

I have worked in child care since 2007 as a preschool teacher. I have experience with all ages from 1 yr-12 years of age. I have been a summer nanny for 2 different families. I also tutored a 2nd grader math and reading. During highschool I volunteered for 4 years in an in-home child care for 2-3 year olds. I have been babysitting since 2004.

I am currently working towards my CDA and required child care training to progress to my bachelors degree in Education. I have completed 45 hours of Department of Children and Families courses in Child Health, Safety and Nutrition, Child Development, Behavioral Observation and Screening, Early Literacy, Special Needs, and Child Abuse and Neglect. My independent course work has led me to subjects such as Montessori education, Multiple Intelligences, the Conscious Discipline method, and other child development theories. I worked as a nanny throughout college and was the eldest of 3 siblings. I babysat for neighbors and family friends growing up in Chicago. My first nanny job was for a lovely family with three children all girls ranging from 7-11 years old. My duties and titles consisted of housekeeping, tutoring, chore management and expeditor, discipline, cooking, daily errands, shopping, group counselor, friend, and lead singer. I was with them for almost 2 years when I transferred to USF in Tampa. We still keep in touch to this day. The second family I was a nanny for was in New Jersey while finishing a research program for one 2-year old girl. We went to the park daily, made crafts, sang NON STOP and grew to be quite close. After my son was born, I cared for a 1-year old girl and my little brother who was then also 1-year old with my newborn son. Other duties included housekeeping, cooking, caring for the family dog and general cleaning. It was lovely to be able to be with my son during his infancy and was a great experience. They moved their daughter to a preschool after several months for financial reasons. My son, Patrick, is about 3 and a half, and it has been an amazing few years! My life is forever changed and I am a better, more aware, more loving, more gracious, more patient person than I ever would have been without him. I have been taught some invaluable lessons as a mother.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Port Charlotte, FL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Port Charlotte Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Port Charlotte? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Port Charlotte?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in FL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
