I was initially going to school to become a teacher, but was disheartened by the way in which the school environment is changing. I wanted to be a teacher in order to show children love and help them build a positive self-image, however, as I studied the changes in the school system since the implementation of standardized testing, it did not appear that teachers have the same role as the teachers I remembered growing up. Therefore, I began teaching Sunday school instead. I taught Sunday school in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as in Sarasota, Florida. Growing up, my mother ran a childcare for six children out of our home, so I was always around children of all ages. As I grew up, I helped her more and more in caring for the children. I started babysitting at the age of thirteen and had one family that I worked with consistently every week while in high school, caring for their two boys. I babysat just about every week. Since moving to Florida, and as I mentioned earlier, I helped start a Sunday school at my old church. At times, I was doing crafts with around twenty children at a time from age three and up. I had to tailor the crafts so that all the children could participate. I also have been babysitting for a family friend who has a condominium down here for close to eight years now. They have three boys who I have been watching since they were ages four, six and eight. I can handle (and truly enjoy) high energy. I love spending time with them. They have also referred other friend who was on vacation here, to me to watch their children as they had a parent’s night out.

I've worked in a number of childcare jobs over the past several years. Last year, I was a part-time nanny for a 2 and 4 year old. A couple years before that, I worked as a childcare worker for a gym in Tallahassee. I got a lot of experience with kids of all ages there. I watched children as young as 8 wks old to children as old as 12 yrs old. Besides those childcare jobs, I have been baby-sitting since I was 16 years old for various friends and family members. I have experience with triplets, multiple children at once, and children with autism. Although I would eventually like to use my degree, I love children and want to stay working with them for as long as I can! :)

I have taken care of many children throughout the past number of years, including twins, and my 35+ nieces and nephews. I have volunteered at two different non-profit mission homes, taking care of small children whose parents were incarcerated and taking the children in to the prisons to see their moms. My last nanny position, I took care of 3-month old twins plus an 8-month, so I am capable of taking care of more than just one child at a time. Please contact me for more information if interested. Thanks. Lillie
