A little bit about me

To be honest, I actually have never had any "formal" nanny experience. However, I not only have hundreds of hours clocked for family babysitting and nannying, I've also worked with youth my whole life. I currently director a High School Ministry, have helped launched a couple of other high school ministries, and have served many times in childcare at several churches. I love working with children, and upon my graduation at Moody Bible Institute, I am seeking a deeper way I can serve those in my local community, such as families in need of a loving caretaker! My Fiance has nannied for many years now, and I am jealous of the experiences she gets to have and relationships she gets to form. I would love an opportunity to serve in this manner. Therefore, though this would be my first formal job nannying, I know I have the heart and the teachability to do what it takes and exceed expectations!

A little bit about me

My Name is Jazmine. The kids that I’ve babysat like to call me Jazz. I’ve been Baby sitting since I was 12, and I am now 19. I attend Harold Washington College with a major in Mathematics. I hope to become a teacher. Any kid or Baby that I have babysat always loved me and felt as though they can trust me. They are now entering their preteen years , and they start telling me about their middle school crushes. I’m also very social and I listen very well. I have warmed bottles, had to run to get Baby food because mom forgot, I’ve changed diapers, I’ve been there for to boo-boos and kissed them all, I’ve also been able to tutor my kids in Mathematics and Other things they may have been stuck on.

A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Britney Galarza! I have been babysitting mostly on the weekends for different families for the past few years. I love being with kids and spending time with them because I always learn something new and my enthusiasm and patience allows me to build a relationship with them. In the future I have always seen myself having my own kids for the love I’ve grown for the ones I’ve taken care of. I like spending one on one time with them, taking them to the park and even teaching them things. I know I’ve learned things as well and it has helped me grow as a person and acquire new abilities and I would like to continue that. I am a committed, responsible, and trustworthy young woman that loves kids. I am bilingual, fluent in Spanish.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Chicago, IL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Chicago Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Chicago? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Chicago?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in IL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help
