My name is Maria and I love children! I work in a home for adults that have special needs, and I want to get back into the babysitting/nannying world. I miss the atmosphere and flexibility. I love the outdoors, I am a church goer ( I will not mention or impose my beliefs on you or your children if you are not in any way religious), I am currently studying to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and I have plenty of energy. I like to think I'm well organized, and I hate being late for things. I am CPR/ First Aid Certified , and I have my own vehicle. Thank you for considering! Have a blessed week.

I have developed the ability to work with different people no matter how strong of a personality they may have. Being that I'm in high school I've had times where I had to deal with different attitudes at one time, but I've always found a way to make it work. I also used to babysit and pet sit on the weekends, so multitasking is no problem for me. Both high school and babysitting have strengthened my attention span, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure. I've worked for families that had pets and sometime pets with more then one child. I have no problem working with more then one child and pets.

Hello, well I think the most important thing is that I have 11 children, that I raised as a single mother. I worked 3 jobs to support my family, I was always told throughout my life throughout
their lives, what wonderful well behaved children I have 10 little ones all at once , lol. I look back and wouldn't change a thing except for the fact, I so wish I could of been a stay at home mom. That wasn't possible. Today my children are all grown living great lives , beautiful adults with their own families. I have 2 children still home with me. You would think I'd be tired of children , lol, but if you know me I cnt get enough of the babies 😊

My past childcare experiences were great. I really learned how to interact with children on their own level. It helped me learn how to care of children from a variety of ages.

I have worked the last two summers at a Christian camp. My first summer I taught archery and air rifles to children and this past summer I was a counselor. I loved being a counselor because I got to experience being a constant influence and mentor in these girls' lives--it was so fun! I have also volunteered with youth groups for the past four years, which meant I was in charge of a small group of 5th-8th grade girls. When I was younger, I babysat somewhat infrequently for a church family and friends of our family.

I've had many children to watch over since the age 12 I love kids. Bad, attitude, disrespect, rude, spitting, I have delt with it. Its nothing I can't control.

Child care has been a desire of mine since I was a young girl and I would watch my mother work as live-out nanny. When I was very little, she would take in children to sit for from families who attended our church, as well as my siblings and I. When we were old enough for school, my mom went back to work as a teacher at the schools that I attended. I believe that all those years growing up watching my mother nurture children of all ages instilled that desire in my heart (I just didn't quite know it yet) and as soon as I was old enough, I began to follow in my mother's footsteps. My first job was as a babysitter for the Pastor of my church. He had just adopted a baby girl from China, and asked me to spend some time helping out at his home. I was 16 and home-schooled so I could do just that. 3 years later, my Pastor and his wife went on to adopt a second baby from China, and with all the need they had around the house, I received a promotion to 'Live-in nanny'. This is the point at which my desire for a career in childcare began to manifest itself. 4 years later, both old enough to attend school, so their parent's need for a nanny slowly dissipated and I began looking for other work. During the last year of my employment before she went off to half-day Kindergarten, I would work the other half of the day at my second job as a floater/teacher's aid, In where I worked for the following 3 years. As time progressed, my desire for direct interaction with children began to progress as well. I really started missing the little girls I nannied for and began realizing that that is where my strengths truly were. So I began looking for work as a nanny again. Shortly after posting my resume online, I started working for a couple who had 3 children: a 9 year old boy, a 4 year old and a 16 month old baby girl. I was employed with this family for the next 2 years when, due to the families financial issues, I was considered an expense whom was, sadly, the first to go. Immediately thereafter, I began working for a daycare close to my home in South Holland, Il. I have been there ever since and, like the last time I worked in a daycare, I am starting to strongly desire going back to work as a nanny, where I can really put my strengths to better use.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in South Holland, IL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

South Holland Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in South Holland? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in South Holland?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in IL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
