Hi my name is Shavon and I have been babysitting for about 7 years and a full time nanny for about 5yrs. I have had experience with children ages 4months to 12 years old. When I was younger I watched 3 children on a daily basis when they came home from school until 8:00pm. I helped them with their homework, fed them dinner, bathed the children, and put them in bed. I would also babysit on the weekends for a family who had a handicapped son he was a kool kid. I helped with all of the above and made sure he received all of his medication on time. I also have experience watching my younger brother and sisters. Before and after I graduated high school I worked at xx , which is a daycare/ learning center, where I was a teacher's aide and caretaker. I also worked with two autistic children when I was there. There I worked with children 6months to 10yrs, from 12pm to 6:30pm Monday -Friday. I also helped with a cheerleading program, where I was a teacher's aide. I still continue to have experience with children babysitting on weekends whenever I am needed. I am currently looking for employment as a nanny/babysitter my schedule is open.

Full-time hours

Hi ! My name is Shamani I am currently a freshman at Montgomery College my major is Early Childhood Education. I take evening classes twice a week so my schedule is very flexible. I started my career as a nanny almost 5 years ago. I started working for a family of 3 boys ages 10 8 and 6 at the time I worked for them for a year until mom decided to become a stay at home mom. She introduced me into a pregnant friend of hers who was considering hiring a nanny for her new baby. I met with Mrs. and her husband and they decided to hire me. I would stop by their house twice a week to get familiar with them and as well as their house, when she gave birth to baby girl Peyton I would come over every day and assist her during her maternity leave that way she wasn't on her feet as much and Peyton and I could get acquainted. Peyton and I grew built a bond that no one could break over the 3 years, later that 3rd year Mrs. got pregnant again and gave birth to baby boy Kevin and the same routine was done again for her first 6 weeks. Shortly, before Kevin turned 1 I wanted to see if working at a daycare was best suitable for me because I am going to school to become a teacher and working in a daycare setting I am able to work with a larger group of children like I would do in a school setting, I found a summer position as a teachers assistant I fell in love with the center as well as the children It was a sad day once my toddler class left for pre school that was also my last day too. I was always welcomed to return back but due to the Mr. new job offer in Pennsylvania I was not ready to relocate which was an option So now I am looking for a new loving family to work for.

I worked in a regular school from 2009 to 2010, like a monitor. I was responsible for 10 classes of 30 children each, from 9 to 13 years old. I had to supervise the input and output of them in school, ensure security and order at break times and between classes and play and give them activities when the teacher lacked and accompanying them on tours and excursions. Besides, I was a nanny of 2 kids from 2011 to 2013. My routine involved bathing, dressing, feeding, preparing meals, play with them and drive them to some places, like appointments at the dentist, playground, special activities, etc. Both are very energetic child, so we played a lot at the playground, and I prepared several different activities for both, like games, contests and art crafts, etc. I also took care for a baby when she was 5 months. My routine involved bathing, dressing, feeding, preparing meals and bottles, changing diaper, putting her to bed, distract her and make her comfortable. Since January 2014 I am an Au pair, and work from 2:30 to 19:00. I take care of two girls, 8 y.o and 13 y.o and my routine is mostly drive them, cook dinner and do their laundry. Besides, I always babysit for the neighbors in my mornings or Friday nights. On 2013 I did a first aid and CPR course, provided by Au Pair in America, in NY.
Fern L. - Seeking Work in Silver Spring

I began my career as a Nanny in May 1992 with a beautiful baby named Elizabeth. She was four months old and I had not been a Nanny before. I was the neighborhood babysitter as a teen, and I am a Mother. The first two days of being with the family, the mother was around as we were "getting" to know each other. The third day we were on our own. I took her for a walk and I held her in my arms, she was facing backward over my shoulder, so delicate. We had been walking for about five minutes, all this time speaking to her about the sites and sounds, I felt this feeling of trust and looked over at her and she was fast asleep, her arms relaxed and just limp on me. I began to tear up a little and fell in love with this career at that moment. What a great feeling when a Child trusts you and loves you. Never a better a feeling.
