Cecilia Scott
Clayton$18/hr  |  12 yrs experience
Hello Parents! My name is Cecilia and I am a Professional Nanny. I have worked with many families over the years and have loved working with all of them. My last Nanny position was with a family out in NC. I worked for them for 6 years and 8 months for their 2 wonderful boys who are now 7 and 4.

For the families I have worked for I did all the normal daily activities for the children. IE: diapers, bottles, playing, tummy time, taking to and from daily activities as the children got older, library ( 20 to 30 books at a time that we sit and read on a daily basis), picking up from school, children's laundry and children's dishes, breakfast and lunch meals plus snacks etc.

But I go beyond all that as a Professional Nanny. I teach colors, numbers, shapes, letters, and start children on age appropriate workbooks around age 2 1/2. We go for walks and I point out the birds and flowers etc. I teach them how to get along with others, how to share, be kind and gentle, and how to use their words instead of whining and crying.

Being a Nanny for me is not about just watching the children. It's about teaching them about the world around them and giving them the best start in life that I can possibly give them and loving them unconditionally.

Loads of experience, mother of five, grandmother of 11...working outside the home all my jobs were in the healthcare industry, like Wakemed, north Raleigh peds(managed for many years) and others...but being a “mom” was my favorite!!

I have worked as a babysitter and tutor since my early teens, and have had families hire and recommend me repeatedly because of how happy they were with my services. I was also the youngest lead teacher for a class of 15 four-year-olds for two hours each week over the course of a year. Additionally, I have experience working at an hourly childcare drop off center, which is essentially a daycare that cares for and charges by the hour, with no age separation. I also have part time nanny care for a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old. I am quite capable of caring for children of various ages at one time.

Hi my name is Meghan and I have been working with kids since 2017 through daycares, babysitting and camps.
Deborah Korzelius

I have had experience in both daycare as well as being a nanny! I have been in this field since 2000 after I graduated from college and moved here from N.Y. I truly enjoy being around children! Every day is a clean slate, another day to learn and grow, and explore the world through a fresh set of eyes! I really enjoy the close relationship and bond that develops when you are a nanny both between the parents and the child! It certainly is special and intimate which is why I prefer to be a nanny over returning to the daycare genre of work. The unique experiences of being a nanny truly make it a rewarding and enjoyable field! I hope you consider me as you search for that special person to take on that role!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Clayton, NC

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Clayton Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Clayton? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Clayton?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NC? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
