Michele S.
Franklin Township$22.85/hr  |  < 1 yr experience
My name is Michele and I'll be 23 years old in August. During high school I babysat periodically for 2 different families as well as occasional sittings for people who's regular babysitter wasn't available. One family I sat for had 2 kids and a dog. They were about 6 and 12 at the time. The other family had 2 boys who were around 7-10 years old. One of these boys has autism. In high school health class, I received training in CPR and was tested on my ability to perform it on babies and adults and passed with no error. I did not receive official certification for this but I am familiar with the process. After high school I enrolled at college. I come from a family of 6 children. My older siblings started having their own children. I helped watch them, have been around them frequently, and babysat them since infant age to now, and the oldest is almost 3 currently. I also occasionally have been a substitute aid for preschool, and kindergarten through 6th grade. I helped with kids throughout their entire day's schedule. I helped with playing, eating, homework, cleaning up, misbehavior, manners, learning, etc. I received anti-bullying training a few months ago from the school. Growing up in a family which has 6 kids with ages ranged across a 15 year period along with the above mentioned experience, I have skills in socialization, sharing, discipline, conflict resolution, patience, etc., and in relating to all ages. I as a person am also very caring, understanding, and truly enjoy the responsibility of children and pets.

She is awesome. My 2 babies loved her. She is the most sweetest person. I always felt at ease leaving my babies with her. My kids are 1 and 2. I also have a couple of nephews she looked after between the ages of 3 and 8 and as they say. She is so much fun to play with. She has helped them be independent and responsible as well as respectful. I loved her ... sad that she moved states - Paola

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Franklin Township, NJ

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Franklin Township Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Franklin Township? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Franklin Township?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NJ? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
