Starting in 4rth grade, I began volunteering in my churches children ministry with newborns-4 years of age. I enjoyed teaching them things such as, American Sign Language & basic Spanish. Even though at the time I was young myself, I found great pride in how the children looked up to me. As I got older my love for children expanded, especially for sick children. I believe that a child's life is delicate & precious, so to see it compromised by illness tugs at my heart. I have been a Jr. Child Life Specialist for the past 5 summers. In this position I ensure that despite whatever medical challenges the child may face they still get to enjoy some of the delights being a child should bring. I've also done programs. This fostered an even greater admiration of children but it has influenced my career aspirations. I aspire to be both a Pediatric Neurosurgeon & Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist. I wouldn't have these goals if it had not been for some of the courageous children I met. I also have paid experience from babysitting family members, family friends & neighbors.

I have been working with children for many years. I was a full time nanny for a little girl from April 2007 to August 2008. I worked with her from when she was two and a half months old until she was eighteen months old. My responsibilities included preparing bottles and meals, changing crib sheets, changing diapers, bathing her when needed, and cleaning up after the child. I often read to her, took her for walks, and took her to the park and the museum. I also enjoyed creating age appropriate activities for her. Currently, I am a full time nanny for a 9 month old girl. I started when she was just three months old. My job duties include preparing meals and bottles, changing diapers, light housekeeping related to the child, bathing her when needed and taking her for walks. I am also currently an on call babysitter for a family of five children. The children's ages range from ten months old to ten years old. I babysit for them every Friday evening and whenever else they may need me. I am responsible for feeding and putting the ten month old twins to bed and supervising the other three children. I enjoy reading and playing games with them. In the past my childcare experience consisted of on call babysitting which eventually led to becoming a summer nanny. I started out as an on call babysitter for a family with four children, two year old triplets and a four year old daughter. Eventually, I became a summer nanny for this family. I have worked for this family as a summer nanny and babysitter from when the children were toddlers up until they were teenagers. I also worked for a family of two boys for many years. I started when they were three and six. I was an on call babysitter and summer nanny for this family as well. For both of these families, I was responsible for such things as preparing meals, light housekeeping, supervising them outside and in the pool area, driving them to activities, and creating games and activities.
