A little bit about me

Hi there i’m Destiny . Thank you for viewing my page and making it this far in considering me to care for your child . I’m not an average young adult , I’ve had many responsibilities since I was young so i’m ahead of my generation . Although I am very responsible and goal driven i’m still young so pertaining to kids i’d like to consider myself a funny big sister , I enjoy play time and creative activities just as much as the children do . Overall my references describe me in words such as , “ Reliable , Punctual, Caring , Protective , Attentive “ and much more in my reference letters that id be happy to send over once I am considered .

"Destiny was such a help . I am a single father and a traveling nurse, she took care of my son while I worked long sporadical shifts . I appreciate how much she pitched in and all her efforts to make my son happy and to make me feel at ease while I was away from my son . Destiny is reliable , attentive and so fun for children to be around , i would 100% recommend her to anyone interested in having her ."

"Kim was a tremendous help to our family when I had my second. He came 2 weeks early and Kim was able to start pretty immediately. In the early days, where we needed the most help was family and household support. Kim would engage with our toddler (3.5 yrs) through paining and arts/crafts. She also did a lot to help prepare meals and help us with grocery shopping. Her cooking was so good that our daughter would request "Mrs. Kim's breads" for dinner. Kim takes feedback and direction very well, was incredibly flexible with her needs/schedule and overall a great help in the early months of having 2 kids at home."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Queens, NY

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Queens Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Queens? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Queens?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility.
