A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Anne, I am a recent graduate of Penn State where I got my degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Earth and Space science. I have spent my last three summers working in ESY programs where I worked with children with a range on different learning and behavioral disabilities. I worked at a daycare this pass year where I worked with children ranging in ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. There I learned how to properly take care of smaller children and how to start them on the right track to hit certain developmental milestones. I also become comfortable watching multiple young children at once. I am CPR and First Aid certified. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked in schools with children ranging in grades kindergarten to fifth grade, I also completed my student teaching in a 7th grade classroom. I worked at a daycare with children ranging from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading, doing arts and crafts, and starting to teach writing to children once they become older. Outdoor activities I enjoy doing with children include walks and playing in parks and water play if they are old enough. I do not believe that children should be using screens at a young age so I enjoy finding fun crafts to keep them entertained without the need of screens.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is creating a collaborative relationship between nanny and parent, by working together we create a better relationship for the child. By having open communication and being on the same page that is what is best for the child.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked in two different ESY programs where I worked with children who had learning and behavioral disabilities as well as students on the autism spectrum. At these programs I would come up with an personal plan for each student with the help of their IEPs and help them to reach their own benchmarks throughout the course of the summer.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One great memory I have is with this child I watched this past year, he was about to be 2 but was still not walking yet and with the help of PT and exercises we would do he started to walk! I will never forget his mom coming to pick him up and him walking up to her it brought tears to both of our eyes.
