I was a paraprofessional in classrooms with a broad range of student needs, and I have additional experience working with neurodivergent and physically disabled children and teens in home and summer camp environments.
I volunteered at a government facility in Romania to aid in the care of neurodivergent, physically disabled, and chronically ill children. In the Bronx, I helped organize Early Literacy Day celebrations at a public library, and I was head counselor for several years at a volunteer-run summer camp at a museum in my Connecticut hometown.

The most important part about being a nanny...
While the obvious first priority of being a nanny is the safety of the child, I think the most important part of being a nanny is making sure children FEEL safe. I want the children in my care to know I am present with them, I actively listen to what they have to say, and that I am always there to help them express their thoughts and feelings to better serve their needs.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with special needs children (toddlers to teenagers) in school, home, and summer camp environments, and as a member of Best Buddies.
While volunteering in an orphanage in Romania, I was able to assist disability nursing staff with residents ranging in age from infants to young adults.
As a paraprofessional, I worked with children with designations including ASD, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ODD, and emotional disturbance. As a nanny, I have worked most closely with children with ADHD and ASD.
