Hello! My name is Ayoka. I believe children are amazing and a great joy to be around! The amount of fulfillment and love I feel in relation to being able to spend time with, help, and teach these little ones is unmatched. I have been given a heart for young children and love working with and being around them. My passion for working with young children led me to begin my Early Childhood studies and field work at a young age. Between the years of 2015 and 2022 I studied Early Childhood Education. Between 2018 and 2022 I also studied Early Childhood Special Education. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree from NYU (3.8 GPA) in these fields while also double minoring in Communicative Sciences & Disorders and American Sign Language. I look forward to pursuing my educational and professional studies in the future and plan to go to graduate school.

I like providing them with the opportunities to do things for themselves, explore, and fully engage with their environments. I desire to equip children with the skills to be confident, strong, independent, curious, and determined. They are capable of so much and are constantly learning and growing. Modeling, gentle nudges, encouragement, positive reinforcement, and conversation go a long way in their development and self-concept. "Learning moments" are everywhere and the seemingly smallest or inconsequential conversations or activities establish foundational knowledge and have the ability to spark their interests and expand their horizons.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education.

As an NYU Student Teacher I worked with children who were identified as having a disability or special needs.

While working as a childcare provider I also worked with children that were disabled or had special needs.

I was hired by a parent to work as a one-on-one school aid for their child who was enrolled at a Reggio Emilia school. This child was very physical and aggressive and prone to extreme emotional and physical outbursts. I was assigned to shadow this child, model appropriate behaviors, assist in conflict resolutions, prevent physical harm, and assist the child during their school day. I was in constant communication with the student's parent checking in and discussing the best strategies and approaches to help her child.

I was hired as a classroom teacher at that Reggio Emilia school. In my class there was a child that had special needs and regularly received special services.
