More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a synchronized swimming coach for a year while living in my hometown. I was responsible for about 10 girls between the ages of 6 and 11. I have spent years volunteering with the Special Olympics swimming and basketball, as well as in Integrated education programs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love taking children to the park to play in the sandbox or on the swings or just to go for a stroll. There are many classes and activities for toddlers in the parks that I love to take advantage of. I love baking and cooking with children and getting them familiar with new foods and flavors. I love music and dancing and helping kids to find new creative outlets through crafts, hobbies, instruments, and sports.
My experience with special needs children...
My youngest sister has down syndrome and I have always been heavily involved in the special needs community. Through volunteering with the Special Olympics and integrated education I have worked with a variety of different children with various special needs. I have been a full time nanny to a nonverbal 19 year old with autism for the past two years. I helped her family implement tantrum protocols to significantly diminish extreme violent behaviors she demonstrated when I began with them. I have also worked part time as a nanny for a 7 year old with high functioning Autism and as a regular babysitter to a 6 year old girl with a global development delay.
