My passion to study early childhood education was truly fueled during my professional career at LeagueApps, a software as a service company aimed to “make youth sports happen.” In the Spring of 2018, LeagueApps offered employees the opportunity to volunteer with VOLOCity in Harlem. VOLOCity is an organization that runs free sport leagues for children in underserved communities, with a mission to create opportunities for social interactions that strengthen communities and provide economic impact. I was utterly ecstatic and jumped at the opportunity to integrate my professional career with my passion. My experience as a VOLOCity coach opened my eyes to the idea that the field of education truly gives meaning to work.
